Our Free Consultation Policy
I believe that you should be able to have a conversation with an Attorney, where you find out if that Attorney handles those kind of problems, and to see roughly what it would cost.
The Free Introductory Call for Everyone
For that reason, I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call to briefly discuss your matter. What I expect from you, is a clear concise high level summary of your problem, tell me who is involved, and what you think you want done. You should be able to do that in five or so minutes.. I will then tell you if its something I do, maybe give you some suggestions, maybe discuss how much it would cost. Maybe even some time telling you why I would be good fit for the case. I don’t think you should be charged to be told I don’t handle stuff like that, or to be given a sales pitch. So I do this for free.
Some callers try to take advantage of me. They try to do a massive info dump, and then try to rape my mind., over the phone That’s not fair to me, and its not really useful to you either. Very few correct answers are going to be obtained in this manner.
Attorneys are not human “Googles”, we don’t memorize case law, or statutes, or rules of procedure waiting for the day when someone who has some complex legal problem that real google didn’t give them a clear answer for calls and tries to force an easy answer to a complex legal problem out of our brains. Often we come up with the best answer a few days later, sitting on the john, excremeditating about what you told us. If you are a client, we will tell you what we came up with. If not, were not going chase down the person who tried to rape us on the phone, and then ghosted us when we expected to get paid. something for our effort.
What we do understand, and you should too, is that some people have complex problems that require a deeper dive than can be done in 15-minute conversation over the phone. For those people, I offer a consultation session which if you are involved in a civil litigation dispute I call an early case analysis, and if not in a civil litigation type dispute, I call a discovery session. And I do charge for it. Expect to pay $500 for a Discovery Session, and up to $1200 for an early case analysis. Please don’t try to dump a bunch of documents into are hands and expect to review them for free.
The Free Consultation for Contingency Cases
As you may know, there are areas of law, the free consultation is just standard. For example, in Personal Injury and car accident cases. These are usually consumer cases, and they are done on contingency. And I am open to those issues as well.
Here is a list of types of cases I will consider doing on contingency, and for which I give a free initial consultation:
- Car Accident
- Driver hitting a Pedestrian or Bicyclist
- Dog Bites and Dog Nuisances
- Violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (Abusive Behavior by Debt Collectors)
- Violations of the Automatic Stay by Creditors (for Bankruptcy Debtors only)
- Elder Abuse & Elder Financial Abuse
- Legal Malpractice (By Lawyers), Lawyer Fiduciary Breach, Embezzlement, Failure to do Work.
I may meet with you and not think your case is one that is good for me. I may reject your case. I may offer to do your case, I may make a referral to someone else in exchange for a referral fee, I may bring in co-counsel. I don’t know, but I am willing to talk to you about it for free if you are looking to hire an attorney.
Free to a Point Consultation for Probate Executors
I want to help you with your probate case, and I want to know more about it. If you have will and want to start a probate and you want an attorney to help you, then I am willing to talk to you about it for free. If you want to contest a will, or if you tried to DIY and now have some administration issues that need thought, I’m not a free resource. I won’t charge you for a sales pitch, but I also won’t do real work for free.
